Women of Winslow continues to inspire

Women of Winslow continues to build a supporting, inspiring and learning environment for our female employees.

On Thursday at Hyatt Place Events Centre, Essendon Fields, women from across the Group, along with other Group leaders and external partners, gathered for a signature event.

Keynote Speaker, Dr Louise Mahler, discussed the changing face of construction where women are entering the workforce for the better and the importance for women to build what the Ancient Romans called “Gravitas”.

Gravitas means your ideas and voice are taken seriously, your input is sought and valued, and you are more likely to gain the trust and respect of those around you.

In an engaging and humorous presentation, Dr Mahler highlighted how simple changes to mannerisms and speech can present as confidence.

“Confidence is competence, and that competence is in the areas of vocal presence, body power and clear and concise messaging,” Dr Mahler said. 

All those who attended the event praised Dr Mahler for teaching them important practical skills in the most hilarious way.

They also enjoyed meeting other women and leaders in the Group and were thrilled to take home with them a special edition Women of Winslow hoodie.

“It was so great to see our women engaged and connecting with each other. The energy in the room was incredible. Our women left the event feeling confident, excited and ready to conquer,” said Winslow Group General Counsel, Amelia Rizzo.

This year, Women of Winslow increased its activity across the business with the commencement of our inhouse Women of Winslow Mentoring program, attendance at industry events and partnerships with a number of different groups focused on bringing more awareness to the roles and opportunities for women in the construction industry.
