Men’s Shed to repurpose removed timber

At Winslow, we minimise the generation of waste and reuse or recycle resources.

As part of the Watson Street Interchange Upgrade (WSIU), a VIDA Roads project, Winslow Infrastructure is finding practical ways to reuse materials and support the local community.

Timber removed during construction is being offered to local organisations rather than going to waste.

Recently, Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) logs were donated to Kilmore District Men’s Shed, where members will repurpose the wood into handcrafted items.

“We’re really grateful to Winslow for the donation. These logs will be put to great use by our members, helping us create projects and give back to the community,” said Phil Clancy from the Men’s Shed.

Winslow is also exploring further opportunities to donate mulch to local organisations, supporting green spaces and community initiatives.

“By repurposing materials like timber and mulch, we’re minimising the Project’s footprint while creating a lasting benefit for the community. It’s about leaving a positive legacy beyond the project itself,” said James Thomas, WSIU Environmental & Sustainability Manager.
