Lunch and Learn

This week, Winslow Infrastructure hosted a new initiative – Lunch and Learn – which encourages staff to hear from an industry expert while they eat lunch.

For the first session at the Port Melbourne office guest speaker Geordie McMillan, a Senior Principal Environmental Engineer at Stantec, discussed contaminated soils and the regulatory requirements and potential pitfalls associated with such sites.

Geordie has 24 years’ experience in the assessment, management and remediation of land and groundwater.

He is a Certified Environmental Practitioner (Site Contamination) and an EPA Victoria accredited Waste Consigner for soils.

Geordie discussed the environmental duties and obligations under the new Environment Protection Act 2017, what to look for in tenders, and compliance during construction activities.

The hour-long session ended with questions from attendees.

Every second month, a guest speaker will present on something relevant to our business or industry, changes to regulations or legislations, innovations or tips and tricks.

The sessions are a great opportunity to gain valuable insight from guests who are experts in their field.
