Lathams Road Upgrade Project officially ‘Excellent’

Winslow Infrastructure’s Lathams Road Upgrade project had more incredible news recently, with the project being certified at an Excellent level with a score of 66.6 points for its As Built Rating from the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC).

ISC ratings consider the environmental, social, and economic sustainability of both the design and delivery of infrastructure projects.

This score was well above the contractual target of 50 set by Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV).

The submission consisted of responses to 50 categories defined by ISC and resulted in more than 1800 documents being submitted for review, covering most aspects of the project.

The submission received the highest possible points for categories related to climate change adaptation, sustainability management and governance, the use of sustainable materials in construction, community health and wellbeing, and innovation. Categories related to greenhouse gas reduction, land use management, waste minimisation, and urban design also scored highly.

ISC was impressed with the quality of the submission and noted that the score was a fantastic result for our team.

The overall submission was well considered with clear responses to the round one comments, the result of a concerted effort by our team to apply lessons learnt and expert feedback.

Some of the key project highlights and achievements included:

  • a lifecycle carbon and energy reduction of 15.3 per cent;
  • a reduction of 900 tonnes of CO2 emissions through sustainable construction practices;
  • more than 180,000 tonnes of recycled content used in project construction materials;
  • 100 per cent of high-rated and 82 per cent of medium-rated climate change risks were addressed, with adaptation measures throughout design and construction;
  • being the first infrastructure projects to use Polyrok, verified as a market transforming innovation.

This rating is reflective of Winslow Infrastructure’s continued commitment to excellence in sustainability and leading the way in the delivery of socially and economically sustainable projects for the community.

Congratulations to all of the team involved in this massive achievement.
