Healthy changes make a happier dad
As part of Men’s Health Month, we are calling on all male Winslowers to share your own story about how you have made good choices in personal health practices. Today we hear from Opt Hire Depot Supervisor Andrew Sandoval.
My name is Andy. This is the day I realised the choices I made have had a positive outcome on my family.
My alarm rang, piercing through the peaceful morning. I groaned, stretching my arms, and forcing myself out of bed.
The smell of eggs and bacon filled the house, mixed with the sound of my children’s laughter.
“Daddy!” Alexis, my son, and Pia, my daughter, ran towards me, their faces beaming with joy.
“Morning, my babies!” I scooped them up, their giggles filling the room.
As we sat around the table, digging into our healthy breakfast, Alexis’ eyes widened.
“Daddy, you look different. You’re not grumpy anymore.”
I smiled, ruffling his hair. “I’ve been eating better and exercising to be a better father to you both.”
“And a better Daddy to Mummy too,” Pia added in between mouthfuls of eggs.
A proud warmth spread through my chest as I looked at my kids. This was what it was all about. Being there for them, leading by example.
The kids’ laughter echoed in the kitchen, blending with the sizzle of the bacon and the clinking of cutlery.
Today was a good day, and I was determined to keep it that way.
