Green Christmas

A learning from the 2023/24 Christmas break, was that we need to be more proactive and organised with getting our sites prepared for the shutdown.

A number of sites were not prepared for heavy rainfall in January and experienced flooding and ‘lost time’.

This December, Winslow is rolling out a Christmas campaign, aimed at planning for the break and implementing measures to ensure exposed surfaces are managed and dewatering is undertaken before the last working day of the year.

These efforts aim to minimise environmental risks and harm, protect local ecosystems, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (General Environmental Duty).

The Green Christmas campaign will run from Monday December 2 to Thursday December 19.

Winslow’s environmental team will be in touch with each of our sites to organise a time to meet over the next fortnight, to start planning what measures need to be put in place.

Keep an eye out across our sites for posters, tips and information on available protection measures and join in the regular toolbox discussions that will be held on sites over the next few weeks.

These proactive steps will help protect the environment during the construction shutdown, reduce the likelihood of compliance issues by controlling sediment runoff and dust, and assist in preserving the condition of our project sites so that works can continue after the break with minimal rectification time and resources.

The team looks forward to working with all of you over the next few weeks to ensure we leave each and every site prepared for the break.
