Career paths for future rugby stars

Winslow Queensland’s Cultural Heritage and HSE Coordinator Malcolm Saunderson spoke to indigenous youth last week at the Tweed Seagulls Rugby League Club to introduce the potential future Rugby League stars to alternate career pathways.

The Seagulls are a feeder club for Queensland Rugby League teams, however, Malcolm and Norm Bartie, from Indigenous Labour Hire Australia (ILH-A), joined other speakers to highlight alternate career pathways for the youths.

The young players, aged between 16 and 18, from the Northern Rivers area heard from Malcolm and Norm about their roles in cultural heritage and their life experiences.

Former NRL player Preston Campbell encouraged the players to work hard, but also to be open to other career opportunities.
