April is Men’s Health Month
Winslow honours the importance of the health and wellness of our male employees and has dedicated the month of April to focus on the importance of good health and positive health practices for employees.
- Men’s Health Month focuses on initiatives across four themes that aim to improve the physical, emotional, and mental health knowledge of our male workers – Awareness, Education, Prevention, Family.
- We want to promote safe, healthy lifestyle choices for our men.
- It’s a time to remind men of the health issues they face and what they do to take charge of their health.
- Men are significantly less likely than women to see a doctor or report symptoms to a health care provider.
- The overall mortality rate is 41 per cent higher for men than women, and it’s higher for men for 8 out of 10 leading causes of death—including heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes.
Men’s Health Month isn’t just for men – we want women in their lives to learn more too.
What to look out for:
1. Share your positive health story/journey to encourage and inspire others
Calling all male Winslowers – please share your own story about how you have made good choices in personal health practices.
We have spot prizes available for great stories received and published on WinConnect and News.winslow.com.au.
To share your health story to inspire and encourage their fellow colleagues, please email to cms@winslow.com.au
2. Opportunities to encourage and support others
Stay tuned for details about an opportunity to raise much needed funds towards research, education and advocacy to ensure that every person facing kidney disease gets the chance to thrive—not simply survive.
3. Men’s Health Packs
Winslow Men’s Health Month physical ‘packs’ with information on common health problems, merchandise, vouchers, and personal skin self-checks will be distributed in the later part of the month.
