Trees recycled to create furniture

Winslow’s determination to provide sustainable solutions on our projects that benefit the communities where we operate was on display recently at Sunbury.

Trees removed along the Sunbury Road Upgrade Project were milled and the timber donated to the Hume Sunbury Men’s Shed and Sunbury Secondary College.

The Men’s Shed also created a timber plaque for Winslow from the donated wood.

The remaining wood will be made into furniture and sold to raise funds for the shed.

The men are also designing and creating a special boardroom table for the renovated Winslow Infrastructure office in Port Melbourne.

Men’s Shed President Dale Wilkes and Secretary Albert Achterberg presented the ‘Honour Board’ to Rose Gigliotti, the SRU project’s Community and Stakeholder Manager – Winslow Infrastructure.

Sunbury Secondary College received some of the milled wood, and Year 12 students will transform the beautiful hardwood into a coffee table and furniture for the school’s reception area.

SSC’s Facilities Manager Sean Jansen and Assistant Principal Wes Pfitzner were ecstatic to be able to offer the students a project that will leave their legacy well beyond the school year.
