Ceremonies to celebrate NAIDOC Week

This week, Winslow Infrastructure celebrated NAIDOC Week across our sites through cultural traditions and ceremonies.

On our Lathams Road Upgrade project, the team was treated to a traditional corroboree dance arranged by Marda Dandhi through Bandok Tanti (meaning small ant), didgeridoo performances and listened to storytelling.  

“People see ants as small and harmless, but together they are able to build and achieve great things – something that’s synonymous with the Marda Dandhi and Winslow Infrastructure partnership,” said Danny Miller, Director of Marda Dandhi.  

“This partnership has consistently provided sustainable employment, and led to significant personal growth, along with collective growth, especially nearing the end of project delivery at Lathams Road.”

The team in our Port Melbourne head office held a traditional smoking ceremony with members of the Bunurong Land Council to cleanse the site and welcome in good energy and spirits.

The team also enjoyed a wonderful lunch from Mabu Mabu where we enjoyed a variety of Indigenous ingredients and treats.

And out on the Sunbury Road Project, the team heard from some of our Indigenous team members on the importance of elders and were invited to contribute to a local piece of artwork.

They were also treated to a special didgeridoo performance by some of our own team members.
