SMS joins peers at utility safety conference

Survey Management Solutions Subsurface and Utility Mapping Manager Dr Rajat Taneja attended this week’s BYDA Utility Safety Conference 2026, an inaugural national event hosted by Before You Dig Australia.

The conference, which was held at the RACV City Club in Melbourne, was dedicated to promoting safety, innovation, and efficiency across the utility and construction industries.

A wide range of professionals, including safety experts, project managers, and utility stakeholders, attended to discuss industry-best practices and innovative technologies aimed at improving safety standards.

Key speakers discussed the future of AI in the Utility Sector and the benefit of the early location of underground assets which improves design and construction, delivering projects safer and faster while reducing costs.

It was an opportunity for SMS to engage with industry peers, sharing insights and learning from other key players in the sector and the importance of effective survey practices in identifying underground assets and mitigating potential hazards.
