Donation a boost for HeartKids charity
At Winslow, we pride ourselves on contributing to the community and we engage with and support communities that align with our values and vision.
We strive to find ways to assist in our community’s prosperity.
Winslow’s Tell Your Story initiative is an opportunity for its employees to nominate a charity that had made a difference to their lives in the past 18 months and would benefit from a $20,000 donation.
Last week, Winslow Constructors Operator Luke Turner proudly presented a cheque to HeartKids (Victoria) on behalf of the Group with his wife Kim and twin sons Jake and Logan present at the Balla Balla Community Centre in Clyde North.
Luke, who works in Melbourne’s Southeast region, nominated HeartKids as worthy of being the recipient of the donation after Winslow Group asked employees to nominate a charity that was close to their hearts and had made a difference to their lives.
HeartKids offers practical and emotional support for families impacted by childhood-onset heart disease (CoHD), along with resources, programs, and community events.
Luke’s seven-year-old twins Jake and Logan both have chronic heart disease, which has required Jake to undergo surgery three times and both have regular checkups with a cardiologist.

Luke said HeartKids was deserving of the donation because “its support puts smiles on kids’ and parents’ faces during some very tough unknown times”.
Winslow Group General Manager Operations Stephen Strano, Winslow Group General Counsel Amelia Rizzo, Winslow Constructors Area Supervisor (Southeast Region) Heath Gibson and Luke’s colleagues attended the event along with HeartKids representatives.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation from The Winslow Group,” said Sami Glastonbury, National Philanthropy & Development Manager.
“Receiving this kind of support from a business, especially when it’s inspired by the experience of one of their own, holds special meaning for us at HeartKids.
“Families like Luke’s are at the heart of what we do. Contributions like this allow us to continue our vital work across Victoria; from putting on events that bring our community together, to ensuring families feel supported, connected, and better able to navigate their journey with childhood-onset heart disease. Thank you for helping us make a lasting difference.”
