2024 Winslow Awards

The annual Winslow Awards winners were announced recently at Winslow’s Leaders HQ in Campbellfield, Melbourne, which was attended by Group senior leaders.

The Frank Siciliano Award acknowledges a person who consistently succeeds, even when faced with seemingly overwhelming challenges and takes pride in all aspects of the job.

Apart from developing strong work relationships, providing strong leadership, this person demonstrates exceptional employee achievements in the field while always caring about safety of fellow workers.

Winslow Constructors Foreman Bader Al-Osman was announced as the 2024 winner.

Bader began his career at Winslow Infrastructure as a Labourer in 2017, working his way up to Leading Hand then Foreman on the Creekstone Estate in Melbourne’s west.

“This was a very challenging job with tight programs, rocky conditions and a lot of pressure but Bader showed in capabilities and stood up to the task at hand,” said Winslow Constructors Operations Manager Bruno Provenzano.

“Bader always presents a very clean job and has excellent communication and a calm presence.

“From the start of this year he has taken on multiple projects in the Geelong region and is training and developing our up-and-coming foremen. Bader has a bright future ahead of him among the Winslow Group.”

 The Winslow Directors Awards recognise outstanding employees who live out the Winslow values everyday through their strong leadership and contributions that inspire others.

These award winners are employees who have the capability, confidence and self-belief to be productive and progressive in their work. They are employees who have each played a significant role in shaping Winslow for the future whilst building our operational capacity.

Winslow Queensland Senior Project Manager Kieran Hoy and Winslow Constructors Project Manager Roshan Shetty were both awarded the Directors Award.

Kieran recently celebrated his 10-year milestone with the Winslow family. He now leads Winslow Queensland’s largest region, overseeing about eight projects in Brisbane’s west.

“His expertise in forecasting and cost tracking continues to set a benchmark in the business, ensuring that our future Engineers receive guidance from someone who has walked the same path,” said Regional Manager Anthony Rosario.

“Dedicated to mastering the Winslow way, Kieran is now passing on his knowledge by mentoring and supporting the next generation of Engineers.”

Roshan, who moved from Geelong to Adelaide in early 2024, shortly after Winslow’s South Australian operations began.

“He has been an integral part of the team and a natural leader among his peers,” said Construction Manager Sam Taylor.

“His exceptional work ethic, willingness to take on any challenge, and unwavering support for his colleagues make him truly deserving of this recognition. 

“Roshan doesn’t just make time for others, he actively seeks out opportunities to mentor, support, and develop those around him. Even during the busiest periods, he remains focused on training and strengthening the team, demonstrating his deep commitment to both individual growth and the success of the business.

“His dedication and selflessness embody Winslow’s values, making him a standout candidate for the Directors Award.”

Winslow Constructors Senior Foreman Tom Grasso was awarded the 2024 National Safety Excellence Award.

‘Tommy’ was recognised for his proactive approach to health and safety by implementing water tanks on pipelayer and maintenance crew vehicles to reduce silica dust exposure during saw cutting operations.

The initiative was developed in close consultation with pipe layers. By integrating their expertise, he ensured that the water carts would be practical, efficient, and easy to use in the field.

The addition of water tanks has significantly reduced the amount of airborne silica dust, improved air quality and reduced the risk of respiratory issues for workers.

This innovation not only promotes a healthier workplace, but also ensures compliance with industry safety standards.

Tom is always working on new ideas and initiatives on how to minimise risks.

Frank Siciliano was Winslow’s first Foreman, who set a standard followed by the business to this day. The Frank Siciliano Award is a prestigious award named in his honour awarded to someone in the business who consistently succeeds, even when faced with seemingly overwhelming challenges and takes pride in all aspects of the job.

Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager Richard Brown, was a safety trailblazer within the Group, but sadly passed away in 2021. His safety legacy lives on today, thanks to his creation of the Big 5 Safety Rules, and his role in championing the My Family, My Safety campaign.
