30 years and counting for Kylie

Winslow was a different company when Kylie Wilson walked into its Bundoora office, above a chemist, in January 1993 to start her new role as receptionist.

Three decades later, Winslow has offices throughout Victoria, Queensland and Northern NSW, and Kylie has been there to see the company grow.

The Personal Assistant to Winslow founder and Managing Director Dino Strano, said her reason for staying with the company for 30 years has been the relationships she has formed and job satisfaction.

“I have been able to grow as a person and mature into different roles along the years and given great opportunities,” Kylie said.

There have been many great memories for Kylie, who organises many functions for Winslow with the Christmas parties the most notable.

“In 30 years, there are a lot of memories, some good some sad, but I would have to say my fondest memories are the milestone years.

“The most recent being the 25 years celebration at the Plaza Ballroom in 2010.

“Comedian Joe Avati was our MC on the night, along with the Little River Band playing.

“I had an absolute ball organising it.

“And of course, our last Christmas function – all the nerves and planning then seeing it come to life and people having a great time.”

Apart from Dino, there are a few long-term employees who have shared the Winslow journey with Kylie, including Plant Manager Pat Zaffina, Maintenance Manager Paul Dicello, and Senior Foreman Mario Frappa.

“I have to say I have been lucky to experience only two difficult times, notably the Covid pandemic,” Kylie said.

“That’s when you ask ‘what can I do to help this situation? What can I do for the company?’.

“You just put your head down and work harder for the goal of all of your colleagues.”

Asked what advice she would give to new employees, Kylie said “you have been given one of the greatest opportunities – grab it with both hands and run with it.”
