Northern teams spin wheels

Winslow Constructors Northern teams from Hume and Whittlesea in Melbourne’s north, put down their tools last month and put the pedal to metal to find out who’s the fastest of them all.

On a go kart track, not the back streets of Wollert!

It was a chance for the team to enjoy a night out together at ACE Go Karts in Sunshine with some healthy competition and plenty of laughs.

A qualifying session set the grid for all 26 karters, followed by a race.

“Conditions were good and the track was nice and dry, and the lads were very eager to get on the track to see who would reign supreme and have bragging rights until next year,” said Senior Project Manager Adam Stojanovski..

Hayman Aziz qualified first, followed by Dale Le Page and Bryson Crellin.

“Hayman spinning out on the first lap of the race shook up the top 10 standings, which allowed (Construction Manager) Ryan Monaghan to enter the mix from qualifying way back in sixth,” Adam said.

After a frantic couple of laps, with racers scrambling to get to the front, it became a battle for first and second between Ryan and Dale, with two lead changes throughout the race before Ryan took the lead on the final lap to snag victory.

Adam said everyone is looking forward to the redemption race next year.
