Industry breakfasts celebrate men and women in construction

Today is International Men’s Day, and an opportunity to recognise the positive role of men as colleagues, mentors and allies.

Winslow attended the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) Victoria’s International Men’s Day breakfast at Hyatt Place, Essendon Fields, to hear guest speaker Dr Richard Chambers discuss the current state of men’s mental health, and the increasing challenges men face in seeking support and overcoming the stigma surrounding mental well-being.

Recently, women from Winslow spent the morning at Hotel Windsor in Melbourne’s CBD, as part of the CCF’s Women in Civil brunch.

Themed ‘This is my story’, the team heard from some powerhouse women in our industry, who candidly shared stories on their experiences in construction and the different paths they have taken to get to where they are.

Madeleine McManus OAM, Alexis Davison, Annie Kessell, and Liz Aitken shared their tips for overcoming some of the barriers and challenges that exist in our industry for women and celebrated their achievements and incredible milestones.
