Team Winslow backs up for fun run

A team of Winslowers are training to run a half marathon on the St Kilda foreshore to raise funds for mental health support service Beyond Blue, and you are invited to join the team and get fit for a great cause.

Winslow Constructors Senior Project Manager Samuel Zumbo and Winslow Group Director – Engineering Anthony Strano ran in the event last year and are welcoming others to join Team Winslow for the 21.km leg of the 2XU Wellness Run on December 1.

Last year they were joined by Constructors Project Managers Raymond Lara and Kelly Marie Turei, Site Engineer Yash Patel and Foreman Damon McLaren.

“We have decided to run in this event again because Beyond Blue is a fantastic cause that does amazing work for people with mental health,” Samuel said.

“I was surprised to read about the amount of people they help each year.

“I feel that the construction industry has a ‘don’t worry I’m fine’ mentality but many times this is just a mask.”

Did you know:

  • 318,000 people contact Beyond Blue per year, or 900 a day.
  • 3 million people live with anxiety and depression in Australia.
  • 2 in 5 people experience a mental health condition at some point in our life.

“If we can help raise some funds while running around the St Kilda foreshore to ensure we decrease those figures above, then it’s all worth it! Not to mention it’s an extremely well-run event,” Samuel said.
