How to fix voicemail issues
A few months ago, the Group Technology Services team sent out a guide to fix voicemail issues on work mobiles.
Please follow the below guide if you have been impacted and reach out to the GTS team if you need further assistance.
Issue / Symptom
Someone calls your mobile; it goes to voicemail, and they get this message “N/do message can be left on this service”.
How to Fix
1. First make sure the handset has internet access, either mobile data or Wi-Fi
2. Ensure that iOS has any updates (Settings>General>Software Update)
3. Complete a Reset of the Network Settings on the phone. This is one by going to settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Network Reset.
4. Clear Deleted Voicemails to resync the available messages (Phone app > Voicemail > Scroll to the bottom of the list of available Voicemails > tap on Deleted Messages > Click Clear all
Note: If you are unable to load the Voicemail menu at all either an Error or advises to call 101 – Do the following
5. Send an SMS with the word “STATE” in capitals (no quotations) to the number 125100474, and SMS “VVM ON” (no quotations) to 144 then restart phone
6. Sent an SMS the word “VVM STATUS” to 144 to verify it is enabled.
– This should return a message confirming the Visual Voicemail Status
– If this advises that Visual Voicemail is enabled, toggle this off by sending “VVM OFF” to 144
– Test voicemail again with VVM turned off – this should return the service to the SMS Notification
– Send “VVM ON” to 144. Test leaving a message again
Note that iPhone have issues without Visual voicemail, it is recommended to have the voicemail enabled.
