Banksia team passes external safety audit
Congratulations to the Winslow Constructors team working on the Banksia Estate in Geelong for achieving a successful external audit by the developer.
Our client Stockland conducted a safety audit of the site, including the safety management systems and how they are implemented on site.
The audit involved general site observations, interviews with personnel and a comprehensive look at the administrative controls that are in place to minimise any risk to the workers on site, the environment and nearby community.
“The team on site has been working hard to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, and achieving a successful audit is a testament to everyone’s efforts,” said HSE Coordinator James Kitchen.
“Leading up to the external audit, the team put in a lot of effort to produce a surveillance audit score that was near perfect.
“Earlier this year, there were several changes in personnel on this project, but there was a strong commitment from everyone involved to maintain the high level of HSE compliance set previously.”
The 550-lot estate, at Armstong Creek, has 13 stages with 40-50 lots per stage and a water way, of which seven stages have been completed to date.
“Banksia Estate has presented itself with several health and safety risks during the course of the project,” James said.
“This includes a significant amount of work near live services (both underground and overhead), live traffic, extensive ground excavations of sewer and drainage and high levels of mobile plant.”
