WI secures airport project

The Winslow Infrastructure team secured its first project for Australia Pacific Airports Melbourne, the ‘Annandale Road retarding basin project’.

The project will build a retarding basin to reduce peak flows of stormwater, by installing 300m of stormwater drainage, and 450m of sub surface drainage.

This follows the stripping of 21,000 m3 of topsoil, and 35,000 m3 soil cut to dispose.

A retarding basin is a low-lying area of land that temporarily stores stormwater runoff from a catchment, consisting of drainage, various filtration layers and landscaping works.

On the sustainability front, excavated material from the project will be screened and sent to the crusher at Melbourne Airport (Vic Crusher).

This spoil will be reused on other future projects for Melbourne Airport.

The project commenced in late September and is due to be completed by April 2024.
