North Region engineers get Messi

The North Region engineering team recently played indoor soccer matches against each other to find who is their own Messi and Ronaldo.

Four teams of seven players were chosen via a random generator of all the northern engineers, who ten played 6min games, or the first to score two goals.

If it was a draw at 6min the teams would “rock off” to see who played on.

“We played each other a fair few times over the two hours with no clear winner, as teams were well balanced, said Constructors Senior Project Manager Adam Stojanovski.

“We didn’t count how many wins each team had as it was more of just a friendly competition.”

“Everyone loved it. Sport is a common interest among the engineers.

“Even with different skill levels, everyone joins in, has a laugh, and enjoys themselves.

“We plan to continue to play a different sport once a month. Perhaps basketball next?”

Constructors Senior Project Manager Blair Whittet singled out some praise, and advice.

“It was good to see everyone dusting off the old Addias Gazelles. Abdul Saed and Alex Doa were the standout players, but Andrew Vavra’s AFL skills did not translate to the soccer pitch,” Blair said.
